Psychological theory- A person will work harder to avoid losing something to someone than to earn something for themselves. If you take a reward and use that reward to increase behavior it is less likely to change behavior than to force the subject to pay a reward to someone that they do not want to have to pay the reward to. I have had that theory explained to me and it made quite a bit of scence. Email me and tell me what you think.
